You should have probably seen the about me section on a lot of websites. It is usually a page with a short description about you and you life, however sometimes it can be hard to write these as you don’t know what you should reveal to everyone. My website is now also on teensandbusiness.com content will still be posted on here but my new site will feature all content and new content, I would appreciate it if you could visit it.
*Please note consequences described are not definitely going to happen they are there for the purpose of making you aware of what could happen if you were to do any of these things*
Let’s start by some things you shouldn’t do.
You Shouldn’t
- Give away your address, do not give away your address, people will know where you live and can send letters to you about fake stuff.
- Your Full Name, people can do a lot of weird stuff on the internet, giving out your full name is almost like an invitation to stalkers, your first name is alright but not anything else.
- Birthday, Including your birthday isn’t that bad people cannot do much with it except wish you happy birthday.
- Credit card details, people could buy stuff using your money which is not what you want.
You shouldn’t give this information away because it is personal information, when people know a lot or too much about you they can do bad things towards you.
You Can You can but you don’t have to, these things are optional.
- Age, personal but no one can do anything but know how old you are
- First Name, It is ok for people to know just your first name, if not just use your business name.
- Cause of site, it is a good idea to include this, however, it is not compulsory [needed, have to be used]
- Photos of you, if you don’t want people to know who you are do not include photos of you, If you are running a lifestyle blog it is a good idea to include a photo of you.
This information is personal but no body can do anything with it.
You Should add
- Pictures that go with your website aesthetic : These will make the website look more genuine and professional, If you don’t want people to see your face – they don’t have to, just make sure there are images.
- Description / Story : This is the whole purpose of the about page, to have a description or story about the website or why you started your site
- Bold Text : Highlight parts of you story that are important and people should know.
